A little bit about your amazing teacher...
Ms. Willner has been teaching English at Clear Springs HS for eight years (this year will mark her ninth). She hails from Charlottesville, VA, and has really enjoyed living in a big city so far. She graduated from the University of Virginia with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Studies in Literature and her Master of Teaching degree in Secondary English Education. Over the past eight years, Ms. Willner has taught at an alternative school in Virginia (grades 9-12 in mixed classes), English III, Enriched English III, Leadership II, PreAP II, AP English IV, and Creative Writing. She has really enjoyed getting to know a diverse group of students and learning just as much from them as they have from her. She is looking forward to a new and exciting experience with her AP IV students this year, and can't wait to guide them toward great scores on the AP Exam!
Beyond her work in the classroom, Ms. Willner also coaches the ReadyWrite UIL team, which has led two students to the State meet in Austin. Her ReadyWrite team members have also placed in invitationals, Districts, and Regionals. Ms. Willner is also the sponsor of the ImagiZine, which is Clear Springs' literary magazine. She teaches a series of classes on Saturdays (along with Mr. Clark, Mrs. Moffett, and Mrs. Johnson) focusing on National Merit scholarship opportunities.
Ms. Willner lives in a lovely area of downtown Houston and enjoys spending time with her three dogs, Madsen (a dachshund/chihuahua mix), Zadie (a retired racing greyhound), and Lina (teacup chihuahua), as well as her various foster dogs. Her hobbies include reading (duh!), writing, practicing yoga, watching movies, discovering new music, going to the theater, fostering rescue dogs, and volunteering at two local dog shelters.
